Racemose hemangioma of the retina

Abstract
Background: Racemose hemangioma of the retina is an arteriovenous malformation of the fundus vessels. An ophthalmological examination of the fundus reveals multiple dilated vessels. Arteries communicate directly
with veins without intervening capillary beds. This condition is considered to be congenital, nonhereditary, and without sex or race predilection. Other vascular malformations may be present elsewhere in the body, especially
in the central nervous system. This combination is termed Wyburn-Mason syndrome that is also known as Bonnet- de Chaume-Blanc syndrome.
Case Report: A case of racemose hemangioma of the retina in a 24-year-old female patient has been reported here.
Conclusion: Patients with arteriovenous malformations of the fundus vessels require further diagnostic procedures to exclude presence of potentially dangerous malformations within the central nervous system.
