Background: Hydatid cysts of abdominal organs are a rare type of tumors and their detection is usually accidental.
Case report: The reported case of a 50-year-old female patient presents the diagnostics and treatment of a tumor located in the retroperitoneal space in the left suprarenal region. The lesion was diagnosed as a hydatid
cyst of the left adrenal gland.
Conclusions: Location of a primary hydatid cyst in the adrenal gland is extremely rare, but provides an example illustrating that also tumors of parasitic origin must be taken into consideration in differential diagnostics of abdominal tumors.
