Abstract
Abstract
Background: Impacted food bolus is the most common esophageal foreign body in adults, occurring mainly in patients with an underlying pathology and usually resolving spontaneously.
Case Report: A 71-year-old man presented with acute dysphagia due to complete esophageal obstruction by a firmly impacted food bolus that could not be removed endoscopically and resulting in early perforation necessitating surgical intervention.
Conclusions: Tight impaction of a food bolus may result in early perforation of the esophagus and should be treated without delay.
