Abstract

Background: Congenital Fibrosarcoma (CFS) is a rare infants’ soft tissue neoplasm of which only 60 cases are reported as congenital. This tumor has a rapid growth and an extensive local invasion, but metastasis occurs rarely. Distal extremities involvement is more common and generally its prognosis isn’t poor. In the present paper, one case of this rare tumor with metastasis is reported.
Case Report: The case was a 19-day-old boy who was born with a large axillary mass (8×10 cm) and multiple skin masses in head, face and lumbar region (with the maximum 5 mm diameter). Several masses were reported in lung and liver radiographic imaging. Congenital Fibrosarcoma was diagnosed following the biopsy. The patient died on 37th day of his life.
Conclusions: This is the first CFS case report presented with multiple masses in skin, lung and liver. This denotes to consider other organs involvement while facing with multiple skin masses in neonates suspicious to CFS. According to the driven results, it can be concluded that emergency treatment is essential to survive.
