Counterclockwise from the upper left corner are different histological stains with internal scales: hematoxylin eosin (HE) ×40, Grocott-Gömöri methenamine silver (GMS) ×40, periodic acid Schiff (PAS) ×40. The background photo used a Romanowsky-type stain called Diff-Quik (DQ) with an internal scale of ×10.
