Figure 3. Microscopically, the diverticula show a lack of muscularis propria. There is not prominent crypt loss or crypt destruction; however, there are eosinophils infiltrating the epithelium, deep mucosa, submucosa, and muscularis propria, as described in cases of eosinophilic gastroenteritis.
