Intravenous antibiotics commenced on day 1 of admission, and aciclovir was added on day 7. Defervescence was achieved on day 13 after the diagnosis of aseptic meningitis was made, and the patient was started on a once-only dose of intravenous dexamethasone 8 mg. The patient was then switched to oral dexamethasone 8 mg for 3 days and then changed to oral prednisolone 50 mg for another 5 days.
