(C) Pathology specimen from the left thigh reveals a deep perivascular and interstitial atypical mononuclear cell infiltrate which extends into the subcutis. The cells are characterized by irregular nuclear contours with prominent nucleoli and moderate amounts of basophilic cytoplasm (hematoxylin-eosin, magnification ×40). (D) Immunoperoxidase studies demonstrate variable reactivity to myeloperoxidase in the atypical cells (magnification ×10).
