Figure 2. Intraoperative and histopathological findings for a 42-year-old woman with small-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma. (A) At the time of surgery, a solid tumor of size ±25×20 cm is found in the left adnexa, with peritoneal wall and rectosigmoid adhesions. The uterus and right adnexa appear normal. (B) Macroscopically, the left ovarian tumor appears rough with a solid and partially cystic cut surface that is white to gray and measures 18×15.5×15 cm. (C) A normal uterus (white * sign) and both adnexa (the left ovary has been separated) can be seen. The black arrow indicates the ectocervix, which has a smooth surface. (D) Examination of a cervical tissue slice shows an endophytic mass measuring 2.5×1.5×1.5 cm with indistinct and irregular borders and a hard consistency (inside the circle mark).
