Abstract
Background: We report a case of traumatic neuroma of the cystic duct stump associated with intrahepatic bile duct and ductus choledochus dilatation with stones after 12 years followed open holecystectomy.Case Report: Intrahepatic bile duct dilatation, epigastric pain and ductus choledochus dilatation associated with stones were detected in a 58 years old male who had open cholecystectomy for a gallstone 12 years ago. Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography showed complete dilatation of the ductus choledochus associated with two stones:one was located in the middle segment and the other in distal segment. CT revealed intrahepatic bile duct dilatation andductus choledochus dilatation and hypoecoic area in the head of pancreas that imics a tumor. At the time of surgery, there was a tumor-like mass in the cystic ductus stump which was extended from stump to ductus choledochus wall. Consequently, the resection of dilated part of ductus choledochus and mass of the cystic duct stump was done. Resected tumor was measured in 10x10 mm size and pathological diagnosis was traumatic neuroma. Conclusions: Having considering the previous reports, this case is a report of rarely seen traumatic neuroma which was extended to ductus choledochus associated with intrahepatic bile duct and ductus choledochus dilatation with stones.
