Abstract
Background: Massive gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation, necrosis and intussusception may occur in Henoch-Schönlein syndrome (HSS). Jejuno-jejunal intussusception is an extremely rare occurrence seen in HSS. Early diagnosis is the most important issue in the surgical
treatment of this clinical entity. Only seven jejuno-jejunal ussusception with HSS cases have been reported to date in the literature.Case Report: We describe a case of an 11-year-old boy who had jejuno-jejunal intussusception with HSS, successfully treated by surgical intervention. The diagnosis and treatment of this unusual disorder is discussed. Conclusions: Ultrasonography is a reliable tool in the diagnosis of intussusceptions with HSS. Because of life-threatening complications of small bowel intussusceptions seen in the course of HSS should be treated surgically without delay.
