Abstract
Background: Combined hepatocellular cholangiocarcinoma (HCC-CC) is a rare primary liver tumor. The clinical presentation of this tumor is similar to those of hepatocellular carcinoma. We reported
an unusual clinical presentation of combined HCC-CC which manifested as liver abscess.Case Report: We encountered two cases of combined HCC-CC developing on non-cirrhotic liver. One patient was a carrier of hepatitis B virus and had chronic viral hepatitis while the other had neither viral hepatitis B or C infection. Histologically, there were two-type cancer cells in the same tumor. Conclusions: We first reported here the two cases of combined HCC-CC presenting with liver abscess. We hope hat this report will provide further information on another clinical feature of a rare primary liver tumor, combined hepatocellular and cholangiocarcinoma.
