Abstract

Background: Since 1990, clinical studies has showed that in older people than 30 years of age, there is a direct correlation between decreasing growth hormone levels and the effects of aging. However the
primary cause of aging has not yet been resolved.
Case Report: The patient, a 82-year-old man with type 2 diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular disease and
essential hypertension, he received an omental transplantation on the optic chiasma, the carotid
bifurcation and the right anterior perforated space. Neurological improvement began since the first days after surgery. Likewise, essential hypertension and the levels of circulating blood glucose were normalized. Moreover, about 4 months after surgery, he presented some changes of rejuvenation and now, two years postoperatively, the surgery reverted the aging process at least 10 years.
Conclusions: These neurosurgical findings suggest that ischemic neurons and/or in ischemic penumbra in the arcuate nucleus and adjacent areas, are responsibles of the aging process. Because, in contrast to this, its revascularization produced rejuvenation.
