Abstract
Background: A case of leptospirosis caused by Leptospira javanica, which is very rare, is reported.
Case report: A 30-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of the suspicion of leptospirosis. Two weeks earlier he was clearing away ponds of reed. Liver failure with hyper-hyperbilirubinemia, kidney dysfunction and anemia were observed during hospitalization. The patient left the hospital after 35 days in good condition.
Conclusions: A sporadic case of leptospirosis caused by Leptospira javanica is reported. The patient had not been treated with antibiotics till he was admitted to the hospital and during that time course of the disease was natural; liver failure with hyper-hyperbilirubinemia was observed.
