Background: Thyrotoxic hypokalemic periodic paralysis (THPP) is a medical emergency characterized by recurrent episodes of muscle weakness. In hypokalemic periodic paralysis, the muscle is normal between attacks and the diagnosis may be difficult if the attack is the first as seen in our patient.
Case Report: We report a 23-year-old male patient who presented with acute flaccid paralysis associated with hypokalemia and thyroiditis in etiology. After he had eaten lots of chocolates in the evening, he was unable to walk in the next morning. He had a history of 3 similar episodes.
Conclusions: Although there are lots of reports about hypokalemic periodic paralysis related to hperthyroidism, hypokalemic periodic paralysis related to thyroiditis is rarely reported.
