Abstract
Background: Extraovarien Brenner tumors (EBT) are exceedingly rare. Only nine cases have been reported in women located in the mesosalpinx, uterus or vagina. We report the tenth case discovered in the right broad ligament, review the previous ones and discuss the histogenesis of extraovarien
Brenner tumors.
Case Report: A 75-year-old Tunisian woman, who was suffering from a postmenopausal uterine bleeding and a painful mass occupying the entire right hypogastrium. The patient underwent a right salpingooophorectomy
followed by a total hysterectomy and left salpingo-oophorectomy. On histological examination, the tumor had the biphasic pattern (transitional and stromal) characteristic of Brenner tumour.
Conclusions: Extraovarian tumorigenesis should include EBT in the differential diagnosis of an adnexal mass in an older woman.
