Abstract
Background: Proximal migration of a dorsal pancreatic duct stent is an infrequent complication and its management can be technically challenging. Minimal information with a small number of cases has been published
regarding methods for retrieving proximally migrated pancreatic duct stent into the dorsal duct. Endoscopically irretrievable pancreatic duct stents may have to be removed surgically, and resection of the pancreatic parenchyma
may be necessary.
Case Report: 21 year-old Arabic man from Saudi Arabia was referred for the retrieval of proximally migrated pancreatic duct stent into the dorsal duct.
Conclusion: We describe endoscopic retrieval of a proximally migrated 5Fr 7 cm dorsal pancreatic duct stent in a patient with pancreas divisum using a balloon catheter for indirect traction and then an alligator forceps for
successful retrieval.
Keywords: endoscopic retrieval, migrated dorsal pancreatic duct stent ERCP, Pancreas divisum
