Abstract
Background: Pseudoaneurysm of the brachial artery is a rare complication of arteriopuncture or venipuncture during diagnostic procedures or treatment. It also be misdiagnosed as an abscess.
Patients: We present three neonates and infants with diagnosis of brachial artery pseudoaneurysms operated on in our hospital between May, 1999 and March, 2000. The method of reconstruction with preservation of the
brachial artery resulted in perfect status of the vessel and excellent function of the upper limb on follow-up in all three cases.
Conclusions: Cannulation of the peripheral veins in the cubital fossa should be avoided in neonates and infants. The tumor in the region of cubital fossa should always be examined by ultrasound before the treatment is
undertaken.
