Background: Lichen planus, despite numerous studies devoted to it, still remains an enigmatic disease. To date, many clinical varieties of the disease have been described. One of them is localized on the skin of palms and soles.
Clinical observations show this lichen variety to be exceptionally unresponsive to treatment.
Case report: A case of a 36-year-old man with lichen planus Wilsoni is reported. The patient had extensive, heavily infiltrated lesions in his soles, palms and oral mucous membrane. The skin symptoms were accompanied
by enormous edema of the limbs and lymphadenitis. No concurrent hepatitis B and C virus infection was diagnosed. The pathogenesis of the case is unclear. At present, the patient reports no symptoms of the skin disease.
Conclusions: Lichen planus has been reported to be associated with liver disorders. Such an association did not occur in the reported case. Instead, the case suggests a possible association of lichen with the feet mycotic infection.
