Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess the correlation between magnetic resonance and genetic, clinical, neurophysiological and neuropsychological studies of patients with juvenile form of Huntington's disease. The atrophy of the head of caudate nucleus, putamen, globus pallidus, the cortical-subcortical atrophy and the change in signal intensity of putamen were found. The age of the patient, duration period, CAG repeats, muscular tone, choreatic movements, stage and dynamics of the disease were statistical correlated with MR results. The significant correlation were found between atrophy of the head of caudate nucleus and CAG repeats and dynamics of the disease and between increased signal of putamen and parkinsonian form of Huntington's disease.

Keywords: juvenile form of Huntington’s disease, magnetic resonance, neurophysiological study, neuropsychological study
