Isoflavones and menopause

Abstract
In woman the risk of the atherosclerosis, particularly coronary heart disease and stroke, osteoporosis increases after the onset of menopause. There is evidence from large studies that a continuaus substitution with estrogen could dramatically decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. Many women are reluctant to take estrogenic drugs because of side effects, such as resumption of menstrual bleeding, breast tenderness, and weight gain.
