Abstract
Dehydroepiandrosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate belong to steroids found in largest quantities in the circulatory system. The hormone plays and important role in numerous physiological processes such as the function of central nervous system, cardiovascular system, bone and adipose tissue. The role of this hormone is relatively little known. The potential applicability of dehydroepiandrosterone in hormonal therapy of postmenopausal women in order to improve the function of the CNS, prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis and obesity, is of particular interest.
