Abstract
The aim of this article is to review the new literature data on the morphological methods for evaluation of intestinal innervation status. The authors present up-to-date classification of congenital intestinal neuronal malformations and the obligatory criteria. The methods to obtain specimens, to preserve biopsy material and staining procedures are described and compared with diagnostic standards. Markers for the intestinal nervous system elements with
their immunohistochemical staining methods are analysed from the point of view of clinical application.
