Abstract

Background: Behcet’s syndrome is a clinico-pathologic entity characterized by recurrent episodes of oral and genital ulcers, iritis, and cutaneous lesions. Neurological involvement appears in 5-10% of patients, but intracranial aneurysmal formation is extremely rare.
Case Report: We report a 55 years old male patient, known case of Behcet’s disease, who presented with sabarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Brain CT was normal and SAH was confirmed with Lumbar Puncture and CSF analysis. Brain MRI and DSA showed no evidence of any lesion in brain and CNS vasculature.
Conclusions: Subarachnoid hemorrhage is one of the most rare and critical event in neurobehcet’s patients. All of previous case reports of subarachnoid hemorrhage in behcet’s disease were occurred in patient’s with documented C.N.S involvement, and C.N.S aneurysms were detected in all of them. Isolated subarachnoid hemorrhage without previous C.N.S involvement before
and after hemorrhage has not published yet. This report is the first documented Case of subarachnoid hemorrhage in a known case of Behcet’s disease without gross involvement of C.N.S parenchyma and vascular system.
