Abstract
Background: Churg-Strauss syndrome is characterised by systemic necrotic granulomatosis vasculitis, asthma and eosinophilia. This syndrome appears with peripheral eosinophilia and histological infiltration of the lung or in the cardiovascular, urinary, muscular and gastroenteric systems or in the skin.
Case Report: We describe three clinical cases with differing cardiovascular involvement. In the first there was only a slight pericardial effusion, in the second a myocardial infarction and in the last a severe haemodynamic shock.
Conclusions: Churg-Strauss syndrome is characterized by asthma, eosinophilia, small-vessel vasculitis, and granulomas. Cardiac manifestations represent the principal death factor in these patients. The manifestations are pericarditis, myocarditis, endocarditis, coronary artery vasculitis
and extravascular granulomas. Long-term evolution frequently determines heart failure with fibrosis and arrhythmia.
