Abstract
Background: Accessory adrenocortical tissue is a relatively rare clinical observation. It can be seen in a wide variety of locations, such as kidney, testis and related structures , female genital tract and supradiaphragmatic region.
Case Report: We report a case of ectopic adrenocortical tissue along the right spermatic cord of a three year old boy, encountered incidentally during herniorraphy. The nodule was yellow in color and was histologically arranged in sheet of uniform round cells with fi nely Vacoulated and eosinophilic cytoplasm and small nuclei. No adrenal medullary tissue was observed. Finally, we review the relevant literature & the main clinical implications of this condition.
Conclusions: Accessory adrenal tissue may be located along the spermatic cord as a yellow nodule, grassly similar to lipoma. Almost always it doesn,t include medullary tissue. If the surgeon incidentally encounters such a nodule , it is recommended to excise it, however it is not advised to searching for it.
