Abstract
Background: The association between temporal lobe seizure and cardiac arrhythmias has been anecdotally described in the literature. Bradycardia and cardiac asystole are rare during epileptic seizure but they may be underestimated. The physiological mechanism is poorly understood.
Case Report: We report a case of a young patient with syncopal episodes due to cardiac asystole during complex partial seizure. Diagnosis was not easy and required numerous diagnostic tests and investigations.
Conclusions: There is no consensus regarding the management of these patients: We did not opt for pace-maker implantation as the patient was asymptomatic following correct anti-epileptic treatment.
Keywords: asystole, epileptic seizures, pace-maker
