Abstract
Background: Bronchial occlusions with blood clot casts is unusual. But it’s important to may lead to life threating hypoxemia.
Case Report: We present three cases (M/35 years, M/41 years, M/28 years) emphasize the importance of the subject. Chest roentgenogram of patients admitted complaining of hemoptysis were left total atelectasis, left upper lobe atelectasis, right middle and lower lobe atelectasis respectively. Fiberoptic broncoscopy (FOB) revealed obstruction of left main stem bronchus, left main stem bronchus, intermedier bronchus respectively.
Conclusions: In all cases blood clod was removed with FOB because of delayed resolution. Despite medical therapy, in case 3 hemoptysis continued and right lover lobectomy was performed. Hemoptysis etiology revealed no diagnosis expect case 1 suspision of pneumonia . Patients were symptom free for mean 19,3 months of follow up.
