Abstract
Background: Anxiety disorder sometimes arises secondary to transient ischemic attacks (TIA). But it rarely occurs with the symptoms of TIA as first and main clinical manifestation.
Case Report: This case report illustrates anxiety disorder in 2 patients which were found with one-sided limb weakness as the fi rst and main symptom. TIA was wrongly diagnosed in these two cases at the beginning. But antithrombotic drugs could not terminate the attacks. Then we found anti-anxiety medications can terminate the attacks effectively, and anxiety disorder was diagnosed in the cases at last.
Conclusions: In patients with high-frequency TIAs who do not respond to the regular therapies, it seems to deserve attention to whether any psychiatric disorders coexist especially in patients with some symptoms that could not explained by TIA.
