Abstract
Background: In Turkey the concept of home care is very new and there is a need for educated nurses to work in this area.
Case Report: In the 2006-2007 educational year, we decided to send our students to homes for medical nursing practicals. This was the fi rst example in Turkey of nursing education on this subject. One of the students being care a stroke patient but after three weeks the family turned the student away and the student felt unable to cope with this situation.
Conclusions: I want to share this student’s experience because the attitude of the patient’s family was very interesting. They wanted to waiting for die this patient without make anything. Finally we decided to send the student back to the family along with a Psychiatric Nursing student and the family agreed to receive this holistic care. The patient is still living and the new students are caring for him.
