Abstract
Summary
Background: Laryngeal chondrosarcomas are rare tumours of the head and neck. Conventional surgery is the treatment of choice. Adjuvant therapeutic options are controversial.
Case report: Here, we present the case of a 67-year-old man with chondrosarcoma of the larynx (histological grade 2). After three local recurrences, which had been resected every time, the patient received
adjuvant radiotherapy to a total dose of 60 Gy. Seven years later, he is still disease free.
Conclusions: This case demonstrates that adjuvant radiotherapy in recurrent laryngeal chondrosarcoma can improve local tumour control.
