Abstract
Abstract
Background: While iatrogenic pseudo aneurysms involving the superficial femoral artery are commonly seen due to the large numbers of percutaneous procedures performed by cardiologists and interventional radiologists, those due to penetrating trauma are quite uncommon and may be challenging to manage. Traditional management is by surgical repair with stent-graft, by-pass, or patch and some are successfully treated with ultrasound-guided compression device.
Case Report: We are reporting management a case of traumatic superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysm and comparing different approaches available up to date in the literature.
Conclusions: There are non surgical and surgical options available to treat pseudo aneurysm and none of these has proven more superior to others. There are managed differently depending on individual clinical background, availability of a trained surgeon and facilities or imaging supports, and the characteristic of the pseudoaneurysm itself.
Keywords: pseudoaneurysms, vein patch, by pass, graft, superficial femoral artery
